Hello Advocates
Our goal for the Advocate program this year is to provide each and everyone of you support with the STEP UP lessons so you and your students feel empowered to keep pursuing physics. We are also dedicated to building physics teacher networks local to you and your school as a place for support, community, and professional growth.
To that end, we invite you to reach out to anyone in your teacher networks that have physics classes this year and invite them to become 2024-25 Advocates with you.
If you have any colleagues that want to join, please send them the requirements below:
Please review and complete the following tasks by Friday September 20, 2024.
- Please complete the Advocate Questionnaire. It should take you about 10-15 minutes.
- Complete Pre Survey #1.The information will help the research team evaluate and improve the STEP UP program. You will complete a similar survey again at the end of your Advocate term in May 2025.
- Register for the Women In Physics virtual training on Thursday, November 7, 2024 @ 7 pm ET – Women in Physics Lesson Workshop. Your attendance will be collected at the event.
- Look out for email from your regional team for information on additional required training.
- Log in and access the STEP UP Online Community.
- If you are not registered on the website
- On the link above, click on “Register Here for STEP UP!”
- Create an account on my.aps.org
- Please complete all fields, especially if you heard about STEP UP from someone else. This will help us evaluate our program.
- If this is your first time logging in, our Online Community help page has some helpful tips. We suggest you adjust your email preferences to a daily or weekly digest.
- (Optional but highly recommended) Follow STEP UP Physics on social media for updates and opportunities: Twitter, IG, FB, and LinkedIn.
- Take a look at the attached graphic to understand the tasks and events you will be participating in as part of the Advocate program.
